We are committed to a grassroots legislative strategy that begins in our local communities with all nurses and community allies across the state working together municipality by municipality and legislator by legislator to pass safe staffing legislation.

This means passing municipal resolutions all across New Jersey and talking directly to legislators about the serious public health crisis that is understaffing in our hospitals.

As we expand and organize, we need to develop leaders among our nurses and community allies to get safe staffing bill S304/A4536 passed in New Jersey! We will provide you with all the materials and any support you need, including training, if applicable.

If you are interested in becoming a legislative leader with us, please complete the form below and someone from RWJ Nurses United Community Coalition will follow up with you. Please review the roles just below prior to completing the form and identify the specific role(s) you would be willing to take:

  • District Lead (Nurse): Coordinate state- and district-level initiatives in conjunction with other Legislative District Leads and Town/City Liaisons including but not limited to attending council meetings, setting up meetings with legislators, and participating in lobbying sessions in Trenton.

  • Town/City Liaison (Nurse): Attend town council meetings and facilitate engagement between residents and local officials regarding the importance of safe staffing legislation.

  • Speaker (Nurse or Community Ally): Attend town council meetings and be prepared to speak.
